Sound Mixing

This lesson we were asked to create soundscape for the chase scene from Point Break using sound effects download from Freesound.org

The idea was to create convincing mix of sounds in order to learn post-production sound mixing and see how effective it can be.

The above embed is my attempt.

At first when I saw my teacher's example I thought it would be really hard to do, to have the right sound for the right moment and put them at the right time and to make it match with the things that is happening it is as complicated as it sounds. Well, it is confusing and very complicated but it is easier when you learned how to do it and do it step by step.
This is the second time I use premiere  application and I feel very proud of myself for getting this video done and sound okay.

What I did to this video is that I added the sound of the footsteps at the when they run and the breath of the actors, next scene is when the bomb exploded both of them were edited by me. Moreover I also edited the scene when the thief stepped into the mini pool followed by the sound of sudden stop of the cars and bicycles. Nevertheless the part when the guy broke the glass door and the sound of vacuum cleaner gets loud I also edit that scene and the sound of hurting dog.

One minute film evaluation

Hello readers,

  Today I am going tell you about something I have done in my Media Study class, it was very enjoyable and fun. It also helps my group to have better relationship and build up good teamwork.

 

·      This picture is a script for the one-minute video challenge that my group has created. We copied it from the movie name “Mirror Mirror” but not exactly the same as its trailer because we cut out some part of the original trailer.

·      This one is an example of the scenes in the movie that we will be doing and some script. The pictures are representing the scenes we selected.

This is the video that my group have created. 

• This challenge is to create a movie that is one minute long! but it can be base on any movie. Also, this challenge we get to work with different people, not our group we would like to have. The group was created by picking up numbers from the box and same number gets to work together.

 (I found it very difficult and challenging to work with new people at first but it got better through out the process and I was very please with this project. I think it went very well as in teamwork and the outcome. It was better than I expected. )

For this challenge i feel very please with my outcome it is not perfect but it is good enough for our first time. I am gladly

  Anyways after we get separated into groups my group then started off by thinking about what movie should we do, I have to admit it that we have came up with a few movies and it took us more than two classes just to figure out the film.

                              

  First was any movie that have dancing scene in it because one of our friend is a super duper good dancer and we came up with Step Up but we have realized that it will be very complicated because we will be needing a lot of people who can dance and ask them to dance for us and so we decided to change.

  Second movie that we came up with was the  High School Musical 2 at the point where the students in the class were waiting for summer. This one also need a lot of extras plus they will have to look really excited about summer and we don't our extra can do it because our school is just started and we all have a lot of work to do, to be happy and excited seem to be too hard for us since we are quite exhausted. Therefore we change again.

            

  The third one is Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. At first we were just joking around because we don't know what to do so we just think about simple and easy and the one that every would know therefore we have came up with Snow White. Unfortunately this doesn't work as smooth as we expected, the problem is that we cannot find the seven dwarfs and again we decided to change the movie. But this time it is not the same as the one before. Instead of doing original snow white we have decided to do unoriginal one which is Mirror Mirror. 

We chose Mirror Mirror because we want to make it simple and something that everybody know very well and also have a few different versions so we can mix them up and try to do our own version which will make them more interesting.  

  As you can see from my video we have ended the clip with Snow White being poisoned and that is it. The reason I did that was to make it different from every other films.

After we selected the film we started filming right away. First we hand out position to each member in the group. I have to admit again that when I received the group I thought my group will sink very badly due to the lack of trust, teamwork and communication. But everything were smoother than I expected, everyone tried to help, listen and also support one another, nevertheless we share ideas as well. Moreover when one of the member did something good, we complimented each other, which is very helpful for building good relationship between members in the group, this also help our group to have better quality of the outcome.
