Rear Window Opening

This post will be about the opening of the Rear Window.

Opening of Rear window

o   The opening has started very interestingly, it shows an open window then the camera went through the window. The camera pan around showed the environment it had around the apartments that the main characters lived in.  The way windows opened showed that there was no privacy and everyone is open up.

o   Next scene Jeff is sweating and the thermometer show high temperature represents the hotness of the weather.

o   “Are you over 40?! Are you wake up in the morning do you feel tired?” said the radio and before that Jeff is sleeping. It means Jeff is over 40.

o   The scene where there is a little balcony with a bed sheet and there were two people just waking up, this also showed us of how crowded it is.

o   The lady dropped her bra and putted it back on again and start putting creams on without dressing up. It shows how there was no privacy at all.

o   How did we know that the main character (the guy that was sleeping in the beginning) call Jeff or Jefferies? Well, at 1.59, after the camera pan around apartments and neighbors and the view the camera then cut back to the guy who was sleeping in the beginning, he has his cast on and on the cast it said, “Here lie the broken bones of L.B. Jefferies”.

 What happened to Jeff ? Why does he has a cast on?

Ø  The camera zoomed out from the cast and showed the whole body of Jeff, it then pan to the broken camera on the table then zoomed in very close to the camera , which make me think that it related to his broken leg. He must had an accident!

Ø  Next scene is a picture of a car racing but it is more like cars crashing and parts of the cars are being broken and torn apart. Follow by a picture of car exploding, a guy fixing a car, some kind of explosion from the ground and followed by the camera again but this one is not broken.

Ø  The last picture it showed was a picture of a lady in negative colour and that lady appears again on the magazine’s cover in colours.

To conclude, I think Jeff is injured from taking a photograph at the car racing but unfortunately the car might had crashed into each other and caused explosion and sadly he was really close so he might got hurt from this accident.
