Hi readers, today I will be talking about the opening of the film call Children of men 

Location.

 

First of all this opening had started with a voice or newsreaders while the screen is showing the credits. It then shows what is actually happening.  Everyone are in the coffee shop looking televisions, listening to the news about the death of the youngest child in the planet at that time, which his name is Diago. About the sound, since it starts there is not many sound effect until 1:42 when the main character (the one who wears black suit and walked into the coffee shop, “Caf Fine” while others are listening to the news with full attention) about to walk out of the shop.

When the guy walked out of the shop is it completely different. At first it was so quiet, sad moment and some people are even tearing or crying but when he walks out things had turned around, from the clip it seems like no one care about one another, everyone are walking to work with speed, cars are driving as fast as they could but because they are in town it could not be fast, some cars are beeping, horning away so the other cars drive faster.

However the editing does not support the way it shows, even though things seems to go fast it was not effected by the editing, it was just the way mise-en-scene presents. People walk fast cars are driving on the road, some people crossing the road and because it is in the town it looks very busy and crowded.

Lastly, most camera work in this opening are panning and tracking.

Character

AS you could check out the clip above, the main character in a suit, he seems to be ignoring and not interesting about the death of Diago at all. First he walked into the café, stop for a sec because they are so many people on the shop then he started to ask for the way to the counter to order his coffee. While he was waiting he looked up to the TV to see the news but his face did not show any expressions like others, his face was just blank…. He made everything seems super normal unlike the rest in the shop.  After he received his coffee he walk out of the shop immediately and did not turn back at all. Then he put some liquor in his coffee when he was almost done a bomb went on at the coffee shop that he just came out and that is the end of this opening.

I am very sorry that this post is not so excited but I will try to make it more exiting for next post I promise.
